Hat Tournament Rules
The Mid-Season Tournament for this year's summer league is being held as a hat tournament. This means that all players will be assigned to random teams. Players were evenly distributed by the skill rankings used on registration forms. Hopefully, this will yield 10 fairly even teams, which will make for some great ultimate.
BRING A HAT (OR SEVERAL HATS/HEAD COVERINGS) !!!
BE READY TO PLAY BY 10:00 a.m. on Saturday July 7, 2001
We will be done by 6:00 p.m.
The ten teams will be split into two pools of 5 teams.
The pools will be announced the day of the tournament.
Each team plays every other team in their pool and one team from the other pool.
All of these games are to 9 points.
The top team from each pool will then play each other for the championship.
This final game will be to 11 points.
One time out per game.
No half time.
Each round, except the finals, will last one hour. After one hour, a horn will sound. Finish the point in progress. If the score is tied when that point ends, play one more point (sudden death). Remember, a point is in progress if players are walking to the line or standing on the line before the pull. During the finals, a horn will blow after 75 minutes, at which point the same rules as above apply.
Each round will have a different special rule that will apply for that round only.
These special rules will be announced the day of the tournament.
